Anyone who is regularly involved in a sporting activity, from basketball and badminton to tennis and field hockey, may run the risk of being injured. The amazing thing is that most sports injuries could be prevented by using a little common sense.

Even if you are not a highly-paid soccer player or a high-performance athlete, the rules are the same. One of the most important ones is to warm up. Quite a number of injuries such as sprains and strains, and ligament tears are caused by “cold” muscles. Muscles that are not sufficiently warmed up and stretched are more prone to the above-mentioned injuries than those that are. Another rule is wearing the right shoes and clothing for the job. The trainers that you wear in the fitness centre are not necessarily suitable for jogging on your favourite track.
